I never thought in a million years that I would be living the RoamBased lifestyle, but I am.
It’s been the best life anyone could ask for, but it comes with its ups and downs, failures, doubts, and everything else that comes with anything that isn’t “normal.”
The beauty of this lifestyle is that it allows you to work whenever and wherever you want, all while making a living, just like how I’m doing at this exact moment, working from a coffee shop.
Living life to the fullest on your own terms, whenever you feel like it, and wherever you please is a lifestyle many can only dream of.
I’m not talking about the full-blown digital nomad lifestyle, but the lifestyle where your home office or coffee shops are your typical place of work.
This lifestyle can only be achieved with the right tools, education, and, most importantly, the right mindset.
Without these things in place, the chances of you living the roam-based lifestyle are slim to none.
Now, let’s not try to find all the reasons why things won’t work out but rather how we can accomplish the lifestyle that most only dream of.
But first, let me give you a quick back brief on my journey to living the roam-based lifestyle I live today.
My Journey to Living the RoamBased Lifestyle
I have been living the roam-based lifestyle for a decade now, and it was the best thing to happen to me and my family.
But it wasn’t easy.
It’s more like the opposite, actually.
Let’s just say this was one of the hardest times in my life.
I started my young adult life right after high school as an infantry scout in the Army.
I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, repelled out of Black Hawk helicopters, and did my share of patrolling the streets and fighting bad guys in the Middle East.
Of course, after my second deployment, I got tired of leaving home and risking my life, so I hung up my boots and decided that Army life was not my style.
That led to me landing a job as a messenger clerk, which was the best job I ever had.
The only problem was that I was at the bottom of the ladder, and there was no way I would ever make more money than any of the top 10 humans who worked there.
I told my boss I was quitting the next day, turned in my two weeks notice, and never looked back.
She tried everything she could to keep me there, but a raise and moving around within the agency would not cut it.
I wanted more time with my family.
I wanted more pay.
I wanted more to life, and I knew it wasn’t happening there.
That’s why I quit and found success.
Kind of.
Big Dreams = Big Failure
After all that actual job stuff, I figured it was time to make a change.
It was time to do what all the big dogs were doing to make real money.
It was time to run my very own business.
And that’s what I did.
I was well on my way to making millions of dollars and living the life of a successful entrepreneur.
That was the plan, but things went in the opposite direction, with me running a bar that failed before it even started.
Without a liquor license and a bar the size of my living room, how in the world would anyone make it work?
Well, I didn’t, and that’s when I turned to this thing called the Internet.
I did some digging to see how and if it was really possible to make money online.
After a few Ponzi schemes and lots of shiny object syndrome, I finally found something that actually worked.
Finally, Success!
After failing miserably for about a year, I finally found out that people were making thousands of dollars with simple websites.
I knew nothing about them, nor did I like writing.
All I knew was that people were killing it online, and I wanted a piece of the pie.
I joined a company called Wealthy Affiliate and learned how to build a website, add content, and make money through affiliate marketing.
That’s what I have done for the past decade, and that’s what I continue to do today.
It’s a stupid, simple business model that thousands of online marketers are using to make a living, and I just so happen to be one of them.
Of course there’s a lot more to it than just signing up to become an affiliate and throwing your links around social media, but I’m not about to sit here and tell you all about it.
If you are interested, you can check out this guide, and you will see exactly how everything is done.
Besides that, there are other awesome ways to make money online, which I will be covering in another post here soon.
For now, at least you know that there’s money to be made online, and living the RoamBased lifestyle is within reach.
Living the RoamBased Lifestyle
I am one of the few humans living the RoamBased lifestyle, and I absolutely love it.
It’s not the easiest of jobs but being able to work on my watch and attend all my kid’s events is worth it.
These days, you’ll find me at coffee shops, hotel lobbies, or anywhere that allows me to get work done.
Working from home usually happens when everyone is asleep but I still try to get on a schedule like everyone else.
If I don’t, you can expect some of the most unproductive times ahead.
Regardless, I’m happy with the decision I made to strive for the RoamBased lifestyle, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Conclusion: Live the RoamBased Lifestyle
I am forever grateful for what God and the internet have provided for me and my family, and I would not be able to be where I am today.
If you want to live the RoamBased lifestyle, it’s going to take a lot of grit and determination.
Most importantly, it’s going to need the right mindset.
I know it sounds cliche, but it’s the truth.
So, if you want to live the RoamBased lifestyle, make it happen.
Don’t do anything crazy, like quit your job just yet.
Get things rolling, start making some money, and then you can give your boss the bird.
Until then, don’t let anything or anyone stop you from living the life that most will only dream of.
